Local-first scope and on-device data
This Privacy Policy applies to the EchoLater Android app published by MeiByte. EchoLater helps you record voice reminders, optionally create an on-device transcript, schedule notifications, and manage reminders later.
EchoLater may access and store the following information locally on your device:
- Voice recordings that you create in the app.
- Transcripts generated from those recordings.
- Reminder details, including text, audio references, scheduled time, and status.
- App preferences, notification settings, and offline transcription files.
MeiByte does not operate a backend that stores or processes this content. EchoLater does not upload it to MeiByte servers, sell it, or use it for advertising, analytics, or profiling.
Permissions and network access
Depending on your Android version and the features you use, EchoLater may request:
- Microphone access to record voice reminders.
- Notification access to alert you when a reminder is due.
- Alarms and reminders or exact-alarm access to deliver reminders at the scheduled time.
- Local storage access to save reminders, recordings, transcripts, settings, and offline transcription files.
These permissions are used only for the related feature and can be managed through Android settings. Transcription runs on your device after the required model is installed, so your voice recording does not need to be uploaded to MeiByte.
EchoLater may connect to the internet to download optional transcription model files or open external links. A service hosting a requested file or page may process standard connection information, such as an IP address, under its own privacy terms.
Retention and deletion
Locally stored recordings, transcripts, reminders, settings, and transcription files remain on your device until you remove them. Depending on the available feature, you can delete individual reminders or recordings inside EchoLater.
You can also remove local EchoLater data by:
- Clearing EchoLater storage through Android system settings.
- Uninstalling EchoLater from your device.
MeiByte cannot remotely access or delete data that exists only on your device. Local data may also be affected by your device settings, backups, operating-system behaviour, or third-party services you choose to use.
Support messages and children’s privacy
If you contact MeiByte, we receive the email address, message, and any files or technical details you choose to provide. We use that information only to reply, investigate the issue, and provide support, and retain it only for as long as reasonably needed or required by law.
You may request access, correction, or deletion of information contained in your correspondence by emailing contact@meibyte.fr.
EchoLater is intended for general users and is not specifically directed to children. MeiByte does not knowingly collect or store children’s voice recordings, transcripts, or reminders on its servers. If you believe a child has sent personal information to MeiByte through a support message, contact us so we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.
Security and policy changes
Keeping app content on your device reduces unnecessary transmission, but the security of local data also depends on your device, Android settings, backups, and any apps or services with which you choose to share content.
MeiByte may update this policy to reflect changes to EchoLater, legal requirements, or platform policies. The effective date shown at the top of this page will be updated when material changes are made.
